25 years of MUCA - Selected works and objects of the collection

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the MUCA presents selected works and objects from the MUCA collection.

The MUCA collection has its origins in 1998 with the first works attributable to Pop Art culture. These now serve the museum visitors as a starting point for a journey through time. They will gain an insight into how the core collection has grown since the 2000s to include increasingly outstanding works and has become linked to contemporary art in a broader sense.

Works have been thematically grouped together in various exhibition areas, enabling the viewer to connect motifs from the collection with historical genres of contemporary art. For example, there are points of reference between a JR to Christo, an Andy Warhol to Harland Miller, Frank Auerbach to Antony Micallef, or Banksy to Keith Haring.

The exhibition highlights themes and trends from pop art, art in the public space, socio-political/propaganda art to contemporary figurative painting.

In addition, there will be special highlights within the MUCA supporting program over the course of 25 weeks, displayed in several consecutive time periods.
