Under the heading "Design Research Bavaria - Present and Future", speakers will explore the disruptive potential of design research as a knowledge culture in its own right.
The term Design Research is often met with scepticism outside of the design-specific academic context – although the beginnings of design research can mainly be found in the discourses of the 1960s. Design research with its specific research culture is not always compatible with classical research and measuring criteria. But does design research have to adapt to existing research concepts, criteria and methods? Or could design research assume a disruptive function in science and research? What strengths can design research develop in entrepreneurial research projects? And what can design research and research methods contribute to the major transformation tasks for the civil society and everyday culture?
These and other questions will be addressed by speakers from the economy, civil society and science as well as the deans of Bavaria's design faculties. In their impulses and lectures, they show what design research can do for business, science, society and culture.
