Freddy Mercury strasse 5, 80331 Munich

The CIRCO method (after research of TU Delft) introduces 5 circular business models + 6 circular design strategies. CIRCO has guided 2,000 companies + trained 800 professionals to apply design tools.

About 80% of the environmental impact of a product is determined in the design phase, according to the EU. Design enables companies to create long term competitiveness by introducing new (circular) business models, anticipating on issues like resource scarcity and complying with (international) regulations. With circular design, these aspects are added to the traditional design process.

Circular design is disruptive at both a business and systemic level. On a business level, companies extend or intensify their involvement with their product and customers beyond the traditional (linear) moment of sale. They consider the entire life-cycle in the design process by anticipating on future use and end-of-use scenarios in their product and service design and business model.

Value chains are reconfigured at a system level to close loops, to preserve the ecologic and economic value of products and materials efficiently. Also, at this level new conditions encouraging a circular transition need to be set by government policies, regulation and incentives.

The CIRCO design methodology facilitates companies and creative professionals to start a circular business on a practical basis. Under the motto "Creating business through circular design”, companies create a concrete circular proposal. In a 3-day workshop cycle, they develop a circular business model, a product (re)design and complementary services.

In the mcbw workshop you can experience this in a nutshell. Welcome!
